What is The Furniture Station?
Launched in 1994, The Furniture Station is a registered charity and an anti-poverty initiative in Stockport. We supply re-usable, basic yet essential items of furniture and white goods to individuals and families in need within the Borough of Stockport.
Who do we help?
Each year The Furniture Station supports over 1200 individuals and families within the Borough of Stockport. Our clients include homeless people going into accommodation, lone parents and young people, elderly people, refugees; basically all those who cannot afford to buy the items needed to make a house into a home.
In 2010, 41% of our clients were families with children under the age of 16; 18% of which are under the age of 5.
All our clients are referred to us from recognized referral agencies such as Social Workers, Health Workers, Women’s Refuge, and Housing resettlement teams. If you are unsure who your nearest or appropriate Referral Agency is please call us on 0161 456 0717 and we will be happy to help.

Each year The Furniture Station makes approximately 2000 collections and 1000 deliveries; delivers around 4000 items of furniture and electrical items and helps over 1000 families and individuals in the Borough of Stockport each year and saving an average weight of 115 Tonnes that would have otherwise have ended up in landfill.
We expect to make a significant contribution to the lives of the individuals and families that we support and continue to expand to meet ever increasing demands.
